How azimuth came to be

The start
Azimuth starter as an idea to test the physics engine in Unity. Creating a basic two body gravity system seemed like a good place to start, so using newtons equations of gravity a simple planet orbiting a star was created. This was easy to scale up the number of planets, so next a simple model of the solar system was made. The issues that would be encountered, first was that after a while errors in the calculations of the forces would add up causing the planets orbits to decay. The second issue came when trying to add moons, having a three body system is far too complicated for the computer to calculate and once again eventually the system fell apart.
To solve both these issues, the orbits of the planets and moons are calculated using their mass initial velocities to create a predetermined orbit which they will all follow accurately. This method also allowed for a time variable into the equation, so feeding in the time from the computer meant that even when the game is off the planets will continue to orbit.
The influence
Having achieved a realistic miniature simulation of our solar system, it was decided that it should be put to use. The idea for the game came from No Mans Sky where everything is procedurally generated from the entire galaxy down to the plants, and Elite Dangerous for the realistic distances and fighting.
From those games the idea would be to create a procedural galaxy that has the shape and distribution of real galaxies, down to realistic procedural planets that can be explored. With all the distances being completely accurate within a solar system. The main game play will be fighting enemies to conquer solar system to expand your fleet by opening trade routes and exploring the galaxy.
The story
The story will follow an officer in the Kolhn Empire, a race aliens. With the belief that Kolh's all see themselves as a superior race they are spreading across the galaxy conquering those who oppose them. As their empire grows so does their strength, making it harder and harder for them to be stopped. But as the empire expands the more resistance the front line will feel the heat.
